Testing Batteries With a Multimeter

When the battery is dead or dying, we get a lower voltage. This one, for example, reads 1.07 volts, so it''s completely dead. However, sometimes we could still get a voltage of around1.5 volts.

4 Ways to Test Your Batteries

A load test measures the battery''s power when it''s in use. Higher-end multimeters have 2 load settings, 1.5V and 9V. For a AA, AAA, C, or D battery, set the voltage dial to 1.5V. Set the voltage to 9V for a 9v battery. Hold the black probe to the negative end of the battery and the red probe to the positive end to test the battery''s milliamps.

Open Circuit Voltage: What is it? (And How To Find And Test It)

Now, set a digital multimeter on DC voltage. And measure the reading across battery terminals. This voltage is near the standard voltage. If the measured voltage is low, the battery is damaged. For rechargeable batteries, this test is performed to check the battery is charged or discharged.

batteries

What do you recommend to me to measure this kind of battery capacity in a reasonable time like 3-4 hours. A 1700 mAh battery would be discharged in 3 hours by 1700/3 =~ 570 mA and in 4 hours by 1700/4 ~= 425 mA. So using about 500 mA and seeing how long it takes will give a measure of battery capacity. The current of the3 load in the circuit ...
